International Bowling Federation announces the appointment of Dr Koh Koon Teck as Global Coach Education Pathway Chairman.
Dr Koh Koon Teck of Singapore was recently appointed as Chairman of the IBF Global Coach Education Pathway. Dr Koh is an Associate Professor at the National Institute of Education Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The Nanyang Technological University, Singapore is a world-class university and ranked 13th in the QS Global World University Rankings. Dr Koh is vastly experienced in sport coaching and pedagogy. He has published more than 40 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, technical articles in this area. Dr Koh has more than two decades of experiences in the design and delivery of coach education programme both in theory and technical across different sports. He has also played an integral part in the creation of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Coaching Courses.
Dr Koh is a Technical Commission for the FIBA, an Executive Board Member of Asia Association of Coaching Science, an Executive Board Member of FIBA Asia Coaches Committee, an Executive Board Member of World Association of Basketball Coaches, President of ASEAN Council of Physical Education and Sport and the Editorial Board Member for the International Sport Coaching Journal.
One of the roles as the Global Coach Education Pathway Chairman is to lead a team in creating a world class coaching certification course that is the benchmark for other sports federations to follow. The coaching certification will revolve around international best practices and standards that will benefit all of our Member Federations, raising the standard of coaching from the grassroot to the elite, while safeguarding the future of sport bowling and is essential to creating an identity that bowling is a sport in the world of international sports.
Dr Koh Koon Teck, said: “I am glad that IBF recognises the pivotal role coaches play in athlete’s long term development. Having a universal coach education programme initiated by the IBF can ensure consistency in developing coaches systematically, as well as quality assurance.”
